Having drawn from a very young age, I discovered the craft of composition through (pre-digital) black and white photography, which led me into monochromatic lino printing.
While there I wanted to revisit my drawing roots, and I chanced upon the satisfying feel of soft pastel on raw canvas. An early fling with bold colours gave way to a simple palette of black, white, and one, usually subtle colour. Gradually more colours have joined in, and I am currently experimenting with different, often unexpected colour combinations.
My influences include Alphonse Mucha, for his sheer drafting skills and sense of design; Amadeo Modigliani for his impetuosity and immediateness; and Man Ray and Warhol for their willingness to think outside the square.
I have no idea what future directions my drawings will take, but I wish for other people to enjoy the journey as much as I hope to.
My work is available at Etsy.
